Fanny Iu
Heritage & Community Engagement Consultant
Fanny brings decades of experience bridging the worlds of communications, heritage preservation and community engagement, with deep roots in Hong Kong's cultural sector.
Her career began in communications across a diverse range of industries including television, banking and power utilities. In 2007, she joined the Hong Kong Heritage Project (HKHP), commissioned by The Hon. Sir Michael Kadoorie, which she led for 19 years as Project Director building an extensive network across the local cultural sector, launching major museum exhibitions and youth heritage programmes, and developing a public archives service.
Among her most significant contributions was her central role in the CLP Clock Tower revitalisation project from 2018 to 2022, in which a Grade 1 historic building - formerly a company headquarters - was transformed into a community museum and the permanent home of HKHP. The project stands as a landmark example of how corporate and built heritage can be reimagined for public benefit.
Fanny has served on a number of advisory bodies of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, reflecting the esteem in which she is held across the heritage and conservation community. These include the Intangible Cultural Heritage Advisory Committee (2017–2022), the Museum Advisory Committee for History (2019–2024), and the Lantau Conservation Fund Advisory Committee (2023–2028). She currently serves on the Executive Committee of the Friends of Country Parks, working closely with the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department to champion the conservation of Hong Kong's natural heritage.
