International Archives Week 2025

International Archives Week (IAW) 2025 was celebrated on 9 June to 13 June.

IAW is a valuable opportunity to celebrate the expertise and dedication of archivists around the globe, who work hard to safeguard our history for the future.

This year’s theme is Archives Are Accessible. The theme was chosen by the International Council on Archives (ICA), an international NGO which promotes archives and the archiving profession.

As archives evolve in the digital age, the ability to provide greater access to archival content is more important than ever. This year’s theme will celebrate how archives around the world are embracing new technologies to open up their collections, making it easier for people to engage with history, culture, and knowledge. Whether through digital platforms, enhanced user interfaces, or innovative preservation techniques, the goal is to ensure that archives are available to all, regardless of geographical location or physical limitations. 

At History Ink, we know that technology can and does play an important role in making archives accessible.
