Luke Kiely

History Researcher

Luke is a First-Class Honours History graduate from Lancaster University with experience in archival work and historical research across the UK, Singapore, and Hong Kong. His academic and professional background combines strong research skills with public-facing communication, developed through work in museums, archives and education.

His archival experience includes a digitisation and cataloguing project with the Republic of Singapore Yacht Club, where he helped to organise their archives and produce exhibition content for the Club’s Bicentennial Exhibition. He has also worked in Hong Kong on a major corporate archives cataloguing project, helping to catalogue over 200 boxes of material. In the UK, he gained further experience as an Intern at Lancaster County Museum, where he carried out independent archival research and wrote public-facing articles, translating historical material into accessible narratives.

Luke’s university research included the first investigation into the recruitment of British young offenders into the Army in both the First and Second World Wars, requiring over 100 hours of research in the UK National Archives, analysing declassified military files. He also maintains a strong interest in the history of Irish indentured servants in the 17th-century Caribbean and has published original research on his educational website and podcast.

Through his academic research, he developed strong analytical and research skills, which he has brought to his work in collaboration with History Ink since October 2025.
