SINGAPORE TURF CLUB

Celebrating Our Homestretch Campaign

We are thrilled to share details of History Ink’s recent major project for the Singapore Turf Club’s Homestretch Campaign in 2024. This year-long collaboration involved working alongside talented teams at the Singapore Turf Club, Jack Morton, Weber Shandwick and CraveFX to honour the Club’s rich heritage since 1842.

The multifacted project required meticulous planning and coordination, spanning several key elements. History Ink conducted research for a Hall of Fame exhibition, four Heritage Walk exhibitions that guided visitors through the history of iconic races, and a series of 11 films, including an Opening Video, featured at the Grand Singapore Gold Cup race meeting on 5 October 2024. Before starting the project, we identified and digitised key publications from the National Library, providing a comprehensive overview of the Singapore Turf Club’s history. This allowed us to familiarise ourselves with its milestones and notable figures. With creative direction from the Jack Morton team, we then developed detailed research plans.

We enjoyed delving into the Club’s own archives, which included historic photographs and back issues of the ‘Winning Post’ magazine.

Each project required an in-depth understanding of the major races, their evolution, notable figures and horses, as well as key milestones and records. To gather comprehensive research, we consulted a wide range of sources, including newspaper archives from The Straits Times, The Singapore Free Press, alongside resources from the National Museum of Singapore, the National Archives of Singapore, and the Club’s own collection of photographs and magazines.

We consolidated our research into factsheets, highlighting key moments and engaging content. Accuracy was paramount to the client, so we conducted thorough checks to ensure no mistakes were made.  All visual assets and sources were compiled into a comprehensive Heritage Database, organised by project and complete with linked file names, provenance details, and copyright information. This database was made readily available to the Jack Morton and CraveFX team, allowing them to easily select standout content for the exhibition panels and videos.  Once the final assets were confirmed, we also assisted with the copyright clearance process, liaising with relevant copyright holders to secure the necessary permissions.
