The Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong:

A Permanent Display to Celebrate 60 Years

In 2021 the Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong invited History Ink to curate and project manage its permanent historical archive display situated in the hotel’s East Lobby. The exhibition was written by Vaudine England and chronicles the birth of the brand in the 1960s to its roaring success today. Vaudine and Helen Swinnerton collected stories from former employees, sourced photographs from archives around the world, and found hidden histories in the company’s own historic collection of materials.

The exhibition has been featured on Annemarie Evans’ ‘Hong Kong Heritage’ podcast on RTHK, in which she interviews Vaudine on the Mandarin’s illustrious history (and personalities!). It has also been featured in various media outlets including The Standard, Travel Weekly Asia and Remote Lands.

The full exhibition is available to read online on the Mandarin Oriental’s website.
